Message from STARS’ CEO
The past several months have been nothing short of astonishing. While much has changed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, I can assure you our commitment to the patients who need us has remained the same.
Our team continues to care for critically ill and injured patients in your communities. Our nurses, paramedics, transport physicians, pilots, engineers and communication specialists in the STARS Emergency Link Centre are proud to be able to help when and where they can.
We feel honoured to be working on the front lines of this unprecedented response, standing alongside our health-care partners. Since the beginning of this pandemic we have collaborated with our fellow air medical services, provincial partners and other experts to ensure we are using best practices and sharing the latest information and findings.
Thanks to you, our skilled crews have extensive training, experience and tools to handle patients with a range of infectious diseases, including COVID-19. And it’s because of your support we carry airborne ventilators on every STARS mission, enhancing the level of care for patients with respiratory issues.
We hear and read your messages of appreciation for the role we are playing, but we know that it is because of your unwavering trust in us that we can continue to be there for the next patient who needs us. Despite the monumental changes we’re collectively going though, we’re moved to know our allies are still thinking about our organization, with many people contacting us to ask what life at STARS looks like amid this pandemic.
STARS relies on community support to stay operational. While many of the fundraising events in support of STARS have been postponed or cancelled, I’m deeply touched to see how many of you have continued to support us in unique and innovative ways despite everything you are dealing with at this time. We look forward to welcoming our steadfast allies at our bases, events and fundraisers once all of this is behind us.
On behalf of everyone at STARS, we wish you and your loved ones all the best.
President and CEO, STARS
