From the desk of Dr. J.N. Armstrong, STARS chief medical officer & executive vice president:
Recently STARS received a letter from the Board of the Commission on the Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) stating that all STARS bases including: Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg have received “Full Accreditation for Rotorwing” service at the “Critical Care Level”. This approval for accreditation under CAMTS is for three years and is effective March 16, 2016.
The CAMTS Board recognizes STARS for substantial compliance with the accreditation standards of the Commission as consistent with our mission statement. In addition they cite as strengths our physician lead medical model as well as our education program for new employees and medical crew which represents high expectations for clinical performance.
Maintaining our CAMTS accreditation is very important to the organization. It demonstrates our commitment to consistently meeting or exceeding a rigorous set of standards and validates it through an extensive audit process. We have a goal of providing safe, world-class medical care to our patients and our ongoing CAMTS accreditation attests to our stakeholders and donors that we take this commitment seriously.
Our accreditation is a significant achievement and thanks are due to all at STARS.
